Now and again we go ‘twitching’, but only in ‘our patch’. Today we drove down to Newbiggin to follow up the sighting of a desert wheatear that was flitting around on the low sandy cliffs near Beacon Point. Beacon Point is north of the car park, which is beside the church and the new visitor’s centre, and reached by either walking along the shore or along the path at the edge of the golf course. Red Squirrels in northumberland
A CONSERVATION project to protect red squirrels across the North East has won a major grant.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded £247,700 to the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.
The four-year project, Red Squirrels Northern England, will encourage urban and rural communities across Northumberland to come together and help protect the red squirrel.
