Once again the village of Hauxley will be holding its annual Fun Day starting at 11 am on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August.

There will be something for everyone from the tasty BBQ, with the now famous Hauxley roast pork buns, to the bouncy castle for the kids. The bric a brac stall will be full of many bargains, the ever popular cake stall (always the first to sell out, so be early!), tombola and money tombola, face painting, china smashing, the coconut shy, and the local treasure hunt.
Teas and refreshments will be served in the hall. If you’re thirstier, the bar will be available with draught beer from Wylam Brewery as well as wine and soft drinks. To cool down, the ice cream van will be on site. There will be a pet competition so bring along your favourite pet and see if you can win a prize. The children can let their imaginations run wild on the beach by entering the sand castle competition. Everyone can try the ‘feat of strength’ see if you can ring the bell.
Local musicians LUSH Acoustic will provide a range of music all day, so you can relax over a drink and enjoy the songs. And don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets as there are some good cash prizes to be won.
If you plan to stay in the area around the fun day, then Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages has a number of suitable properties to rent nearby including Sanderling Cottage in Druridge Bay, a 3 bedroom cottage with sea views. More information at www.northumbria-cottages.co.uk.
